Nathan Cole

Editor at SolarWorld. Covers portable power, balcony PV and home energy storage; maintains the product database and the scoring methodology.

What I cover

I edit SolarWorld's product database and write the buying guides that sit on top of it. Day to day that means three things: tracking new portable power stations, tariff and regulation changes in the US and EU, and the home-battery / hybrid-inverter market.

How I work

Every product on the site lives in a structured database with independently sourced specifications — manufacturer datasheets, certification filings, and direct measurements where they exist. Buying guides are built directly from that database: every spec quoted in a recommendation is cross-checked against our internal row before the article goes live, and any unverifiable claim is either dropped or flagged.

Background

I've been writing about clean energy for a decade, with a focus on the consumer end of the market — the products people actually buy, not the gigawatt-scale stuff. I read more spec sheets than I care to admit and own a small fleet of portable power stations for testing.
