UK portable power stations sit between EU and US specifications: same 230V/50Hz inverter as EU but with the unique BS 1363 Type-G plug (the famous three-rectangular-pin plug with built-in fuse). All three major brands operate dedicated UK storefronts (jackery.co.uk, bluetti.uk, ecoflow.com/uk) with UK-warehouse stock. Pricing is denominated in GBP and includes 20% UK VAT.

Post-Brexit certification is in transition. The CE mark is currently accepted in the UK alongside the new UKCA mark; full UKCA-only enforcement keeps getting deferred (latest deadline: 2027). All three brands are UKCA-compliant on current SKUs. Important: importing a US-spec or grey-market EU-spec unit into the UK now incurs 20% VAT plus customs duty (typically 0-2% on consumer electronics) plus a £10-20 royal mail / courier handling fee — the post-Brexit total typically wipes out any savings versus buying from the UK storefront direct.

UK pricing is the highest of the three regions for the same hardware: roughly 25-35% above US sticker prices once VAT and UK-specific logistics are factored in. Live currency conversion (USD → GBP via ECB rates) shown in the table below is the floor; expect actual UK storefront prices to sit 15-25% above the converted figure.

UK-specific use case: post-2021 grid stress events (Storm Arwen, Storm Eunice) and Ofgem's stress-test scenarios put residential blackout backup high on the use-case list. The compare table shows units ranked by Wh-per-dollar; for UK home-backup specifically, look for ≥1500 Wh LFP with UPS-grade transfer (sub-30ms switchover) — Bluetti AC180/AC200L, EcoFlow Delta 2 / Delta Pro, and Jackery Explorer 1500 Ultra / Explorer 2000 Plus all qualify.

FAQ — UK

Do EU-spec power stations work in the UK?

Yes electrically — both run 230V/50Hz so the inverter side matches. But you'll need a Schuko-to-Type-G plug adapter for the chassis outlet, and the unit's AC charging cable will be Schuko-tipped. Most UK buyers find the UK-storefront variant (with native G-type outlets) is worth the small price premium for hassle-free use.

Is post-Brexit VAT included in storefront prices?

Yes for jackery.co.uk, bluetti.uk and ecoflow.com/uk. UK VAT is 20% on the unit. If you import from the brand's EU or US storefront instead, you'll pay UK VAT + customs duty + courier handling on top — usually offsetting the apparent savings.

What about the SEG (Smart Export Guarantee)?

SEG only applies to grid-connected residential PV with MCS-certified installation. Plug-in power stations are not eligible — they discharge into the home's appliances directly and don't export to the grid. SEG is irrelevant to the buying decision for portable power stations.

How long is the UK warranty?

5 years on the battery, 2 years on the unit, matching the EU consumer rights directive (still in force in the UK post-Brexit via the Consumer Rights Act 2015). Returns within 14 days under the Distance Selling Regulations.
